2 feet of snow in 1 day!

Wow, did we get a lot of snow! The snow started about 8:00 AM on Wednesday the 21st of December and didn't stop till about 11:00 AM on Thursday. Not only did we officially get 24 inches of snow but the winds were 40 plus mph creating blizzard conditions. I've never seen anything like it and I've seen a few big storms in my day. We stayed in and just rode the storm out but a lot of people were trapped in their cars on the highway and had to have the National Guard come rescue them. It was awful for a lot of people. Officially this was the 4th biggest storm in Denver history (we also saw the 2nd biggest a few years ago when we got 31 inches). Once the snow began to let up on Thursday I went out and snapped a few pictures:

22.5 inches at this point on my yard stick:

These are the cars in the driveway. I actually drove the SUV when the storm started and brushed off 8inches of snow the day before these photos were taken:

This is the back porch. The door wouldn't open and you can see the grill buried in the snow:

Our patio furniture won't be used for a while:
This is a chase lounge that was buried up to the arm rests:

This is the view form the basement office looking out to the front of the house. The window well is 4 feet deep and was almost completely filled:

Here are a few photos of the neighborhood and some of our neighbors homes:

Mattie wanted to go out and play in the snow but there was so much that she couldn't even walk in it. I had to carry her or pull her in the sled to get around:

I took Mattie for a ride around the block on the sled:

We visited Mattie's babysitter, Mary who lives on the next block:

Mary and her friends were digging tunnels through the snow:
