Front row to see The Who and The Pretenders!

I think you all know that I have a "gift" at winning radio station prizes. Well back in November I won front row tickets to see the legendary bands The Who and The Pretenders at the Pepsi Center. It was an absolutly amazing night! We were 20 feet away from Pete Townsend the whole time they were on stage. For being a bunch of old timers now (The Who have been around for 42 years and the Pretenders for 28 years) they still can rock. My ears were ringing for many days after the show!

The Pretenders were the opening act. I saw them back in 2000 when they opened for Neil Young. Chrissy Hynde still looks exactly the same as she did back in the late 70's and early 80's! She had a lot of fun talking to the crowd and playing their classic tunes. Here is thier set-list. I may have a few of the tunes out of order and hopefully didn't miss any of the songs:

The Wait
Up The Neck
Message of Love
Don't Get Me Wrong
Day After Day
I'll Stand By You
My Baby
My City Was Gone (Way to go, Ohio)
Back in the Chain Gang
Room Full of Mirrors

Here are some photos of the Pretenders:

The Who took the stage and played a great set of their old classics seamlessly mixed in with a handful of new tunes. The new ones were surprizingly good but the old hits just made the crowd go crazy. Pete Townsend still does his jumps and windmill guitar strokes just like he was 21 again (He's actually 61 now). Roger Daltrey (who is 62) looked in great shape throwing the microphone over the stage and screaming out the lyrics. They may have lost thier original drummer (Ringo Star's son Zack is now the drummer) and bass players but they still sound great and put on a really entertaining show. I saw them back in1989 (their 25th anniversary tour) and I enjoyed this show (from the front row of course) even more. Here is the set list form the night:

I Can't Explain
The Seeker
Anyway Anyhow Anywhere
Fragments
Who Are You
Behind Blue Eyes
Sound Round
Pick Up The Peace
Endless Wire
We Got A Hit
They Made My Dream Come True
Mirror Door
Baba O'Riley
Eminence Front
A Man In A Purple Dress
Black Widow's Eyes
Mike Post Theme
You Better You Bet
My Generation
Cry If You Want
Won't Get Fooled Again

Encore:
Pinball Wizard
Amazing Journey
Sparks
See Me Feel Me
Tea And Theatre
