Big girl Mackenzie

Now that she's one, doesn't she look older?

She had no idea this rice cake was on her head:

Mackenzie's 1st birthday party!!!

Mackenzie's 1st Birthday!!!!

We had a wonderful day on June 24th to celebrate Mackenzie's birthday. All of the little neighborhood kids came over to celebrate:

Mackenzie and Mya:

Mackenzie and Mary:

The bakery messed up Mackenzie's cake. It was suppose to have individual cupcakes together with the flowered frosting covering it. Oh well, it tasted good!

Kim also make a "dirt dessert". This was a Oreo cookie, pudding, gummy worm mixture in a clay pot. This was really good and the kids just loved it:

Babysitters Emily and Mary with Mackenzie:

I created this poster of the highlights of Mackenzie's 1st year:
This big poster greeted everyone at the door:

After a bath, Mackenzie was ready for gifts:
We made a baby ring for Mackenzie out of a small diamond from Kim's grandmother's (Mattie Marie Ashley) wedding ring:

Yeah!! it was a great time.

Mimi, Kelly and Cody in town for Mackenzie's 1st birthday

Kim's mom (aka "Mimi"), her step-sister Kelly and her boy Cody all came out from Omaha to celebrate Mackenzie's 1st birthday. Cody is a few years older than Mattie but the 2 of them really get along well and enjoy playing with each other:

On the night of Mackenzie's birthday we all went to see the Cirque Du Soliel show "Corteo" that was making a stop in Denver. For those of you who don't know what Cirque Du Soliel is, it's a new type of a circus. There are no animal acts (yeah!), just the most amazing acrobats and preformers that you can imagine all set to music with very elaborate costumes and set designs. I highly recommend you see one of the many preformances out there when you can.

One-year photos of Mackenzie... and others

Right around Mackenzie's birthday, we took the whole family (plus Taty, who we very much consider part of the family) in to get photos taken. Mattie and Mackenzie were a bit difficult to get coordinated smiles at the same time and the photos of the 4 of us were not the best but the first couple are really cute.
